Hola Amigos y Amigas!
After many years of hard working in the restaurant industry in Downtown DC, Carlos and Mirna saw an opportunity to open a place to resemble their hometown traditional Salvadoran food. We opened Comedor y pupuseria San Alejo in 2016. In our Comedor, we characterize our cooking style as simple and authentic, but most importantly casero (home-syle cooking).
"Comedor" in El Salvador means a place where people can get traditional food regardless of social status for example, labor workers, doctors, office workers, politicians, influencers, etc.
From freshly made to-order Pupusas to refrescos, and everything else in between our main goal is to recreate the typical dishes we grew up on as children.
